Supplies

• Small Stones
  • Enough to cover the surface of your selected frame
• Plain frame, either wood or craft frame
  • 4x6 used in the photos
• Craft Glue
  • That dries clear
• Craft Sand (optional)

Instructions

1. Gather small stones for the surface of the frame. Use shiny, smooth stones. This is a great task for a young child to do. They can look for stones on a walk in the park or though the neighborhood. Or you can use craft stones purchased from a craft store.
    
2. Wipe off the surface of the frame and apply the craft glue in small sections. Be sure to cover the surface with the glue. 
    
3. Select stones of varying colors that will fit nicely next to one another and position them on the frame. Push the stones down into the glue. If the frame has a rounded or slanted edge and the stones slide down the edges, you may need to hold the stones in place for a minute until they start to set in the glue.
    
4. Continue adding stones around the outside surface of the frame until the entire surface is covered.
    
5. (Optional step: Pour craft sand between the stones down over the glue. When dried, turn the frame over and shake off any excess sand.)
    
6. Let dry on a flat surface before standing or hanging the frame.
