A classic craft that kids always love to make. This works great for
a class project. There are so many ways to decorate the plates that
you can use this craft for many different holidays, seasons, and other
topics.
Supplies
- 2 Paper plates
- Craft glue
- Markers/Paint/Stickers and any other
embellishments for decorating
- Dried beans, dried pasta, or small rocks
- Construction Paper
Instructions
- Color the back side of each paper plate using markers, paints,
stickers or other embellishments. Add color bands around the edges of each
plate for a colorful touch.
- Cut 8 pieces of construction paper into 1" x 4" pieces (using two
different colors of paper if possible).
- Fold the pieces of paper back and forth at one inch intervals,
accordion style.
- Turn each plate so the decorated back side is facing down.
- Put glue on the end of each piece of construction paper and attach to
the edge of one of the plate.
- Continue attaching pieces of construction paper every inch or so,
rotating the plate as you go, alternating colors of papers (attach
construction paper to only one plate).
- Wait until dry.
- Again, turn each plate so the decorated back side is facing down.
- Put a small handful of dried beans (rocks or dried pasta) into one of
the plates.
- Put glue around the edge of the filled plate.
- Turn the empty plate over and attach to the other plate. Push
together.
- Let dry.
